It was a typical Sunday morning. It's not uncommon for us to have a 7 AM shoot in the Grand Place before the crowds arrive. It's just us and the cleaning crew. This Sunday morning was different. It was quieter than usual. The cleaning crews were nearly finished, and I was gazing at the place with a pit in my stomach. I would be shooting this session alone because my partner in crime and her beautiful family would be in front of the camera for their farewell shoot. The Gibsons will be leaving us tomorrow morning for a new and exciting adventure in the US. They have so much to look forward to with a new state, new home, new schools, and new career opportunities. They are going to be SO happy, and we are so happy for them.
Ericka, I cannot tell you how much I have enjoyed the last 3+ years. You are the most giving and selfless person I know. I have never met anyone that dedicates so much time, effort, and love to others. You are such an inspiration. You have pushed me to be so much better! You have high expectations for people, and if they let you down, or better yet, if they let themselves down, you aren't afraid to let them know. I respect that because you only want people to be the very best they can be. You are a wonderful mother. Your girls know how much they are loved by both you and Dwight. They are so lucky, and they are such good girls. I love them like they are my own. I have also watched you be a loving wife. Dwight couldn't ask for a better cheerleader and support system. Lastly, you are my friend. My friend who is there whenever I need her. My friend who will drive to the airport just to get coffee. My friend who will go to the Grand Place in the middle of the night to get shots of a Christmas tree without people in the way. I will miss our chats on the way to shoots. I will miss the way we work together. I will miss the way we can laugh at each other and laugh at ourselves. There are so many things I will miss, but so many things to look forward to as well. I can't wait for the future!!!
So, we shall divide and conquer. WE Photography will be on two separate continents! Physically, we are divided and ready to continue capturing beautiful people with photography. But let's be honest, we'll never really be divided. Even an ocean can't separate a friendship like ours. Love you girl!
Enjoy the beautiful Gibson family and then a trip down memory lane....And yes Ericka, I picked all of the pictures this time. Hehehehe!
