Two weeks before we moved to Belgium, a friend called and told me that another of her friends, Stacey, had just received word that her family would be moving to Belgium and that I should give her a call. We connected a few times via phone and a few times via email. I shared information with her family about the moving process and we promised to connect when she arrived in Belgium. A day or two before my family headed to Belgium, I got a call from Stacey telling me to check my email. It turns out that our children had attended summer camp together and that we had met in passing. What a pleasant surprise to see our kids smiling in these pictures.
Stacey's family moved to Belgium seven months after we arrived. Little did we know how close our families would become. It's a rare occasion that we are comfortable leaving our kids for a weekend with ANYONE! They quickly became our friends because of the way they treated us and more importantly, because of the way that they treated our kids. All three of my girls love visiting Ms. "Shachey" and Mr. "Kebin's" house, as my three year old would say....and we enjoy it even more. They are God-fearing – and genuinely good people. We are happy to call them friends.
What a pleasure it was to shoot this family! Their lively personalities were a cinch to capture! While editing these pictures, I noticed that for one portion of the shoot, quite a few of the pictures were slightly crooked. Why, you ask? Because... I literally could not stop laughing. Take a look at this series of pics. This would be Kevin imitating my teenager's signature pose! Meet my loving, "crazy" friends, The Douglas Family!
Douglas family, thanks for always being there for my family, always loving my girls as if they were your own and thanks for always making us laugh. We are very fortunate that our paths have crossed and we look forward to many more years of friendship and fun!
